Places of interest
Ruins Huaca Pucllana & Museum
Templo de Adoradores del Mar, this is related to the Lima culture from the 5th century AD. This Site is located in the center of Miraflores, surrounded by the modern houses. (S/. 10)
Pachacamach Sanctuary & Museum
It is a site on the outskirts of Lima, which is more than 1,500 years old and hosted 4 different cultures, including the Ischma, Wari and Inca. (adults S/. 6 / students S/. 3)
Architecture
The architecture of Lima has a lot to offer. Especially the center of Lima, declared as World Heritage Site of the UNESCO is worth a visit. (the Cathedral, the Government Place etc.)
Magical Water Circuit
Here you will find the Magical circuit of Water. In this park you will find 13 water fountains, of which some are more than 80 meters high. These are computer programmed and each is featured with colors, lights and images.

Sports & Food
The corner Sorts Bar and Grill, Avendida Larco 1207, Miraflores, everything is centered around sports, in this bar you will find a variety of national and international beers and American food classics. In Lima Downtown you make a good choice going to Estado Futbol Club, Avenida Nicolás de Piérola 926, Plaza San Martín. Cheer with the locals
Cafés
San Antonio Café, a Peruvian chain with fairly cheap prices for sandwiches and baked goods which go along with the coffee and they do have delicious ice cream.
Arabica Café Espresso Bar, Recavarren 269, Miraflores. It is a small art café with fair trade coffee beverages, herbal teas, muffins, sandwiches and homemade cookies.
Café Z, has good coffee and great cakes, with all day breakfast offers and live music one to two times per week.
Food
You will find a lot of fish places, keeping in mind, that the ocean is just there, ensures the fish to stay fresh till it gets on your plate. Going to one of the Cevicherias is worth a visit. Lobo del Mar – Octavio Otani, one of the oldest in town or Chez Wong, looks like a normal house from the outside, with a chef not working with a menu, but being very creative with the daily availability, are worth a visit.
It is quite famous among the limeños to eat out during the week at one of the local restaurants, which serve set menus for a little price with big portions.
Meat lovers should plan a day of eating little to check the Rodizio, Avenida Angamos, at night time. You start with a huge salad buffet and then the waiters will come to your table to serve you with fresh cut meat. This continues till to the moment you can’t fit anything anymore.
Guru Kebab & Curry, located in Surco is the only Indian & Parkistan option in town, with delivery service.
Stop at one of the various Juguerias to get a taste of the diversity of the Peruvian fruits. Good choices would be Las Delicias, Ignacio Merino 505 or La Gran Fruta, Cinema Alcazar in Miraflores.
Vegeterians don’t have to miss out. The Vegetarian food Bio Leben, owned by Germans has a great variety of vegetarian options with a store, where you can by your fresh food to prepare it back home. Sabor y Vida, in Miraflores, is a great alternative. It is a fairly small restaurants with menus for S./ 7 as well as yogurt, juices and sandwiches.
Night Tips
Lima Night
A good choice to go out at night are the neighborhoods of Barranco and Miraflores to party the entire night. If you start in Miraflores you should stop at the Calle de las Pizzas, you will find various clubs, with a mixture of tourists and locals, no cover in most of the places. Although during the week it’s a little bit quiet.
El Dragón, diverse crowd with reggae, jazz, rock and DJ’s, unfortunately a cover of S./20.
La Noche, it is one of the best places with live music ranging form Pink Floyd cover bands to Monday night Jazz. The cover depends on the show of the night.
Bierhaus, it is quite popular among young people and you don’t pay a cover before midnight.
La Posada del Mirador, this is the perfect place if you are looking for something more quiet. It is the perfect spot to enjoy the sunset.
Transport Tips
Transport
If you just arrive in Lima at the airport it is a good advice to take a taxi directly from the airport, these are usually slightly more expensive, but they are secure and bring you to the place you want. If you have a reservation at one of our hostels we will arrange a pick up service ($14).
If you want to move around the center area of Lima, within the neighborhoods of Miraflores, Barranco, Larcomar etc. you pay between 12- 20 Soles. You also can take the local busses, if you feel like having a different kind of experience.
Security Tips
Security
Taking the small busses is not advisable, you usually do not have a lot of space and it is difficult to watch your stuff. Instead it is safer taking the bigger ones, if you wish the local experience getting around town.
Climate Tips
Climate
The climate in Lima is quite enjoyable. It hardly rains and if it does you will only see a few drops but it is not that strong, that you would not be able to walk around. The temperatures are a little bit higher in the summer month of December to March, around 25 degrees in the rest of the year it is between 15 to 20 degrees. It is very humid in general and the coast line usually covered by clouds, but the sun is still very strong.
