Marité and Fernando, the owners of Pirwa Hostels, started of in 2003. It was their dream to open up a little place in Cusco to welcome and host young travelers from all around the world. As Cusqueños, they are familiar with their city, knowing of the places of interest. They wanted to create a place for young people run by young people, a place, where people feel welcome, like coming to a friend’s house.
They put the cornerstone with the opening of a small place in Cusco just a stone’s throw away from the Plaza de Armas. This place included the basic facilities and services. Shortly after the opening, they realized that this by far was not enough to fulfill the desires of the travelers, who wished more than just a place to rest. They asked for a kitchen, a television, a place to hang out or support with the booking of their tours. That made the owners realize, satisfying their guests does not only mean to provide them with a bed and an opportunity to shower.
This was the turning point. They wanted to be able to provide the young travelers with the services they desired, to ensure that the travelers have the best possible time while staying at the Pirwa Hostel. In reality this meant to open up a self-catering kitchen, create common areas, provide the people with internet access and a lot of other services to join the travelers, giving them opportunities to spend time and share experiences with the other guests. Step by step they have opened up one hostel after another in different places in Lima, Nazca, Cusco and Machupicchu. Marité and Fernando want to be able to offer you the same level of comfort and quality during your travels through Peru with the best possible services.
Today the Pirwa Family consists of 2 places in Lima, a bed and breakfast and a backpacker, 1 brand new backpacker in Nazca, 4 different styles of accommodation in Cusco reaching from the backpacker to the hotel style and 1 backpackers in Machupicchu. In the process of opening the different places throughout Peru they were well aware of the different types of travelers to serve the individual needs.
Marité and Fernando wanted to create something different! They put their entire heart and soul into this project. If worst comes to worst Marité and Fernando stand in and help out in the kitchen to support their team to create you A Better Place To Stay!
In the future there is a lot more to come!
