Get ready for more FUN! Very soon we will open our doors in Puno!

Come and stay at our PIRWA HOSTEL in Puno at the Lake Titicaca! It is a relatively small hostel located in the city center only two blogs from the Plaza de Armas. You will find a diversity of restaurants and cafés and clubs just around the corner. Choose from a mixture of dorms and private rooms.

Why should you come to Puno?

Puno is the capital of folklore of Peru, you will be able to see people dancing in the streets all year rounds, especially the carnival season is very colorful. It is located at the biggest and highest commercially navigable lake in the entire world, the Lake Titicaca! Being surrounded by the mountains makes this place a unique experience. Where in the world will you have the opportunity to enjoy a sunrise in the Mountains and at the “ocean”, the Lake Titicaca, at the same time?

Visit the Uros Island, today there are still people living on the artificial islands floating on the lake. Originally they were used for protection. It is quite impressive to see how people live on these islands and even their houses are made from totora.

Also very interesting are the Islands Taquile and Amantani which offer a beautifully unique nature.

The Chullpas of Sillustani, about half an hour north of Puno are a reflection of the Aymara Culture. These tombs have the shape of towers and some of them are up to 9 meters high. Entire families were buried in their. These are located at the Lake Titicaca.

Chucuito, a small Aymara village only 18 km from Puno will offer you some surprises. This place hosts the Inca Uyo, a pre-Columbian fertility temple. You will find about 90 stone carvings shocking the visitors with the detail of the male anatomy. The fact of having little kids as your guides will make this visit even more interesting. Legends say, that women used to sit on top of these to increase their chance of having a boy.

There is a lot more to explore. Find it out when you come to Puno! We are waiting here to welcome you at our new PIRWA HOSTEL.
