The origin of this feast lies in a religious ceremony of the Incas in honor of the god Inti. This day also marked the winter solstice and the beginning of a new year in the Andes of the Southern Hemisphere. During this days there is a lot going on in and around Cusco.
The Plaza de Armas will be one of the show places.
